The Coolidgest poster ever

Alex Jordan, PhD student in the SEX LAB at UNSW recently won the People’s Choice award at the Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania Three-Minute Thesis Competition. To get there, he won the UNSW Three-Minute Thesis Competition (Tchek the Video), and the UNSW Faculty of Science Competition for Excellence in Postgraduate Research 2010.

This poster is part of his submission for the Science Faculty competition. It tells the story of his recent paper in Journal of Evolutionary Biology on the costs of promiscuity to males. It makes fair use (for education or satire) of a very famous comic strip to tell an interesting and sobering story about the biology of guppies. A story that might undermine some cherished fantasies of men.
